Frost Brown Todd attorney Vickie Yates Brown Elected Chair of Health Law Section of the American Bar Association

August 20, 2008 (Louisville, KY) – Vickie Yates Brown was elected as chair of the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section on August 9th and was officially installed as its chair today.

In addition to practicing law at Frost Brown Todd, where Ms. Brown serves as the co-chair for its health law practice, she also serves as Special Assistant to Dr. James Ramsey, President of the University of Louisville. Ms. Brown advises in areas of health, life sciences, and research. She is also the president and CEO of Nucleus, an affiliate of the University of Louisville Foundation.

Ms. Brown’s law practice focuses on health care, health insurance law, government affairs, informatics and mediation.

“It is an honor to serve in this new role with the American Bar Association and represent the legal profession,” Brown said. “Serving as the chair of the ABA Health Law Section will help to advance the cause of healthcare in our region and in this country. It is something I have dedicated myself and my practice of law to since the very beginning of my career.”

For the last 10 years, Ms. Brown has been actively involved with the American Bar Association. From 2000 to 2002, Ms. Brown was a member of the Health Law Section Council. She also served as Secretary and Vice Chair for the Council.

From 2000 to 2007, Ms. Brown was a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Medical Professional Liability. In 1998 to 2004, she served as Chair of the Legislative Affairs Committee. Ms. Brown also served for two years as a member of the Interest Group Task Force.
